Heart. This is a word that you can always apply to Ashton Kutcher. The above example is one of the starkest examples of his heart but is far from the only case. Another illustration of this was his work ethic as a child. He worked a variety of odd jobs as early as he could. These included lawn care, farm work, and roofing. He claims to have saved every penny for one and a half years, and at 13, he bought a snowmobile for $1400.
Life and Acting Career
One could even say he has heart to a fault, a lesson he had to learn early in life. His parents divorced while he was in high school, Ashton was troubled. He already involved himself in acting via school plays, but that wasn’t all he did with high school. In his senior year, he broke into his high school with his cousin and got caught. It had its consequences, like losing his girlfriend and scholarships. This convinced him to leave criminal activity behind.
His next step was going to the University of Iowa to study biochemical engineering. Heart was a motivating factor again. He had chosen this area of study to find a cure for his brother’s cardiomyopathy.
Kutcher did not stay, leaving in favor of modeling work after a talent scout found him. This is the start of him entering the public eye and garnering some fame. After moving to LA, he was cast in his most recognizable role, Kelso from That ’70s Show. From there, his fame grew through movies such as Dude, Where’s My Car, and Punk’d, which he both hosted and produced.
Ashton Kutcher’s Startup Investments
This gave him the funds to co-found a venture capital firm in 2010, called A-Grade Investments. He created this firm with two other investors, Guy Oseary and Ron Burkle. Its core area is tech companies that change how consumers fit into a market. It has invested in many successful companies of this nature, like Spotify, Uber, and Airbnb.
Forbes ran a feature article about Grade-A, titled “How Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary Built a $250 Million Portfolio with Startups Like Uber and Airbnb.” This was the best selling magazine of Forbes in its almost 100-year history. It went on to say that they had accumulated that $250 Million from only $30 Million.
